Quote:A WDBJ live report appears to have ended in gunshots after a gunman apparently began firing at the news crew early Wednesday morning.

WDBJ reporter Alison Parker was interviewing a woman at Bridgewater Plaza, a shopping center in Roanoke, VA, when the apparent gunman strode into the shot, firing what sounded like at least six shots.

The alleged gunman can be briefly seen in the shot before the camera drops.

WDBJ has confirmed that police are currently on the scene, investigating what they’re calling an “incident” involving their news crew.

According to WSLS10, there were at least three victims but the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

Schools in the area are reportedly on lockdown and both directions of Virginia 122 have been closed while officers from Bedford, Franklin County, Virginia State Police and the Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries search for the alleged shooter.

Update 8:54 a.m.

WDBJ says reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were both killed in the attack.

Update 9:10 a.m.

According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Ward was engaged to a morning producer with whom he planned to move to Charlotte. Today was reportedly her last day at the station.

Quote:(CNN) -- An apparently routine live TV interview went horribly wrong in Virginia on Wednesday morning.

Two WDBJ employees were shot to death while reporting on a feature story Wednesday morning, the CNN affiliate in Virginia reported. They were reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward, the station said.

The crew from WDBJ was involved in the shooting during a live interview at Bridgewater Plaza near Moneta.

The gunman is believed to have fired six or seven times, WDBJ General Manager Jeff Marks said. The station does not believe that the interview subject was injured, Marks said.

Video circulated on social media showed a WDBJ reporter scream as what appeared to be gunshots were fired.

Parker is the morning reporter for the Roanoke station and a native of Virginia, having spent most of her life outside Martinsville. She started with WDBJ as an intern, her biography on the station's website says.

She previously worked with another CNN affiliate, WCTI, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, near Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

She is a graduate of James Madison University's School of Media Arts and Design in Harrisonburg.
