There's some solid digital cameras that are often used for YouTube videos - see Sony RX100, or other digital cameras. I would not hesitate to recommend a low end DSLR - I personally got a Nikon D3200 and don't regret it one bit. Apart from making videos for YouTube, which I no longer do, it's a fantastic camera, yes for pictures too. DSLRs give you more options to work with and you will learn a lot - throw it in Manual mode and snap some pictures of your bedroom wall, and you'll learn what goes into it. Canon offers some great first DSLRs, and if you're willing to dish out the right amount of money, you can find yourself a really nice camera. Try buying a Canon DSLR that's relatively new, but refurbished from Canon to save a few bucks. Also do your research on mirrorless cameras- such as the Sony NX series. DigitalRevTV has some good camera reviews and other good information, so check them out (this is not a paid ad, lmao.)

Had a medium budget Sony DSLR. It was pretty good and I'd recommend it for videos, unless you're planning on doing something serious.
