Hey, I would like to welcome you to HC. This is a really good community here you should enjoy. Also, I would reconmend Python for a first programming language. The syntax is pretty easy, it's type-less, powerful and fun (For me it is). And, how I got familar with a little bit of programming basics is to learn Linux Shell-scripting to help to get familiar with variables, statements, etc. Good luck! (:
