I haven't heard exactly what you are talking about... but I know you can set up a fake ap for wireless encryption hacking (evil twin)... and you can run a real ap with a passive proxy to filter web traffic... for instance... how a hotspot agreement page works or a hotel net where you connect to an open net and put in a username/password on a portal before you get your content... you can essentially create a facebook clone and redirect fb requests through it before you pass the auth off to the real fb...
