The U.S. and North Korea may not pose an immediate threat to each other, they are both constrained by treaties and by the simple fact that as NK is a sort of pariah and is hated by many countries (including the U.S.), the U.S. would most certainly take the lead in a war against of it, regardless of any U.N. complaints (when has the U.S. ever listened to the U.N. anyway?). The most immediate and effective solution, in my opinion, is a swift nuclear strike against major cities, military instillations, and missile silos, quickly eliminating any threats to the U.S., literally carpet bombing NK with atomic weapons. They would have to be launched from stealth submarines or satellites or some shit. The U.N. would bitch about it, but with the U.S. having it in its pocket, nothing would happen.
I do believe that someday, the U.S. and NK will be forced into some sort of nuclear war, most likely with many other major countries. Resources would run out and the earth will become overcrowded, leading to enormous disputes about it between countries. Soon, the earth will be no more.
