Rift changed from subscription into a free to play to make more money. Obviously people would buy it. Its the only mmorpg i ever spent money. Also what "/paid for content." are you talking about?

Paid for content is being able to own a functioning house and be able to farm and whatnot on it which is probably one of the biggest things in ArcheAge. There are tons upon tons of more things to do but that is probably the main one for me when you're a Patron.
