Any compatibility differences between URL?arg and URL/arg 08-16-2014, 07:54 AM

On my website I want to be able to use "mywebsite.domain?arg" for short linking & "mywebsite.domain/arg" for site specific content. Does anyone see a compatibility issue with this? I know that PHP can pick up what's after a '?' even if there isn't an '=' to assign it a value. With the hope for growth, I'm more than sure other backend languages can handle this as well. Of course we've all seen "/arg" as well.
Do browsers treat the two differently? Do some browsers change the URL to format when it sees an incorrectly structured question mark?
