You assert that your way is the only correct way, and that if you don't hold the same beliefs you are a "sheep", a term you use pejoratively, which, in itself, is a form of abuse designed to make people comply, using the same social pressures you claim to rally against.

It is okay to be socially influenced, everyone is. The important line to draw is that you don't let others think for you, only set that which you value and see as moral.

For example, as an American( yes, I'm assuming you're American ), you have less problem with rampant violence on TV and in other visual media, but take issue to any form of sexual conduct on those same forms of media.
Someone raised in Europe, however, is more likely to view the amount of violence as repulsive, while sexuality is merely a normal part of life. That doesn't make either person a sheep, as they may be able to logically think through why either side of the argument is correct, but it does show that social influence is a real thing that happens to all of us.

It appears that my verbage in my original post was rather, demanding and controlling. However that is not at all how I meant it. I truely do care about how everyone else feels about activist/hactivist groups. I want to know what you all think about society norms and how we should attempt to fix it.

Please do not miss take what I just said for me backing away from my opinion; I still stand by what I said and how I feel about activist groups and protests.

Also, we have a very, very large issue with violence in the media including video games, tv, and movies and it usually is a goto for blaming when violence occurs (shootings, Boston Bombing, etc.) I do however agree with your statement about how we should not let social situations control us, but rather let them teach us.

Well I disagree. The people were terrified of Anonymous, Anon was a powerful and not-to-be-fucked-with figure. What made Anonymous a joke, in my opinion, was LulzSec. They did some really stupid things "for teh lulz" and people associated them with Anonymous thus fucking Anonymous over. At that point I think Anonymous kinda loss sight and began to blurr lines.
