I say this because I don't actually do the homework on paper, but I feel that it really helps to look it over and make sure you know the material.
However, a large part of intuition and talent comes into play here as well.
The average SAT score for my state is 1500, but I scored well above 2000 on both I've taken (2050 in 7th grade and 2200 in 10th grade). The SAT's I took were required for internship programs and summer programs.
I'd like to say that I don't do homework, I barely pass in school (relative to the average grade in my class; roughly a 94/100). I'm hanging on a 92 cumulative average - 1 point below the class average. Keep in mind that this school IS a STEM school and only accepts applicants who pass the entrance exam.
It would be too generous to say that even 3/4ths of the kids in my school have EVER done homework.
For other schools in my area, their average SAT scores were lower than 1400, their class average is lower than a B, and, not to be offensive, but they're really not very intelligent to say the least. I feel that homework should be necessary for them in order to give them a chance to compete against STEM schools like mine.
Out of the state I live in, my hometown highschool ranks #9th out of all public schools. My STEM school ranks #10th out of ALL schools IN THE USA.
Never knew the scores were that low, I actually asked ~50 people what they scored on their tests, and 60% or so answered "Basic" or "Below Basic".
No idea how they got in my school... >.>
Basic or Below Basic? Damn, I don't think I've ever got under Advanced. But yeah, I'm like Phaze, I'm in the 17th best highschool in the US. Our average SAT scores are ~1950. 99% of students go to college. I'm in the same boat as you, a B is kind of like Taboo here. We also have to take an Entrance Exam.
