Well most the characters were the same one.
The main reason I disliked it is because 2 was so linear.
You had to do thirty things in a specific order in consistently recycled maps and never leaving the city.
In Origins you could go around buttfucking everything in sight. You had goals, obviously it's an RPG, but you can complete them in pretty much any order you damn well please.
2 was just more constricting and, in my opinion, boring. Being stuck in the city is actually a huge downgrade from the original. The first few parts of the story is just you picking up a will for a house, doing work so you can get money to get in, etc etc.
It makes you feel a lot like a random civilian/wannabe vigilante in a story that makes fuck all sense where, in Origins, you're an actual fucking hero. You killed the Archdemon. You saved Feralden, you're a revered adventurer or you're a prick that sells out his friends.
In 2 you just decide to help mages or templars, and towards the end the mages go evil anyways so your decision really didn't fucking matter.
Plus, I just like options.
Origins gives you, roughly ~4-5 options per dialogue (even if it is silent, it's just the massive amount) and 2 is just the generic Nice, Asshole, and... Funny? No idea how that fits into the spectrum.
Blah, just ranting. It's just my favorite game and I really hate how 2 came out.
