Well you won't really snag anything big with a net, to be honest. Then again depends if you even want that, fishing for eats and all.

When I was fishing for eats I had hooks, with the intention that if I caught a fish that wasn't for eating then I'd put it back in if it wasn't hurt too badly, if it was hurt too much I wasn't sure what I'd do, I was actually crabfishing with a net from a pier and it was the first time the entire week I had caught a fish, which was surprising considering that I had been fishing with hooks all week and caught nothing. I put the fish in a bucket and got out my fish book, worked out it was a Three Bearded Rocklin, then I put it back into the water.
