My dad fought as a rebel in the iraqi civil war, he was in combat when a grenade went off and 6 fragments flew into his chest and shoulder. He said it was the most painful thing to ever happen to him, but he had to keep fighting as they were outnumbered and couldnt risk losing a single man.

I've always respected my dad, but this just made me respect him more.

Honestly, if i was in combat and got shot, first thought in my mind is im dead, and i'd probably just lay on the ground.
