'Threat resolved' after Florida Tech campus locked down 11-05-2013, 09:41 AM

Update, 11:30 p.m..
The campus of Florida Tech was locked down for about an hour and 15 minutes Monday night while authorities checked into an email threat.
While officials didn’t specify the nature of the email, the campus was locked down from about 9 p.m. until around 10:15 p.m. Melbourne police responded as students and staff were told to remain inside.
“Overall it was fine, it was handled properly,’’ said Giselle Williams, a 24-year-old senior at the school, adding a security guard stood by the door to the gymnasium, protecting the students inside.
Students told FLORIDA TODAY a large number of police were on campus during the threat but that nothing untoward took place. Police said no injuries were reported.
Students and staff were contacted by automated call about threat, then later given an all-clear.
Update, 10:16 p.m.:
Another call from Florida Tech's automated system to a FLORIDA TODAY employee has confirmed that the threat to the school's campus has "been resolved."
Update, 9:27 p.m.:
Security officers at Florida Tech in Melbourne have locked down the campus following a threatening email that alluded to a shooting, according to Melbourne Police Lt. Pete Mercaldo.
Nobody has been injured and Melbourne Police are investigating.
