Yeah, that's true, but the way he wrote it made it sound like he was saying that people who suffer from depression are practically faking it, or should not be depressed at all.

"or should not be depressed at all." - That's exactly what I'm saying. Depression is a mental illness that is largely environmental and NOT genetic. What this means is we're in control of whether we contract this illness. It's not something built into you at birth. e.g. you will become depressed at 40 because it's in your blood.

That said, people who do suffer from depression usually do so because of the environment they're living in or were brought up in. The solution is simple really: change your environment. Hard to do for some, yes, but very possible for all if you're willing to be strong minded about change.
