Of course Pokemon is childish, as in a straightforward story and simple mechanics. I mean, most of us grew up on it anyway. But when you start venturing into the realm of IV's, EV's, natures, competitive movesets and predictions, you then realize that GF never really left out the older, mature, competitive individuals. Not to mention the nostalgic feeling of a new Pokemon venture is always fun. As long as you break away from the stigma that Pokemon is only for children or losers, and not give a shit about those that think so.
