It makes me sick to see some people float through life with no purpose, no direction, no dreams or aspirations. I'm 18 and my university tutor announced to us today that he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. I think he is about 28.
I remember in high school, people would constantly tell me they have no real goals or dreams or ambitions. The worst is when they don't have to tell you. You can just see through their actions, their 'hobbies', and their friends that they are going no where. What I've come to realise lately is that a lot of people want the 'typical life' (maybe because they defaulted to it). By this I mean, they want to meet someone, get married, have children, work a stable job, grow old, and die. Puke. I'm sorry, the thought of that just makes me sick.
Why would anyone choose to go down such a predetermined path in life? It seems so bland. It's like you're so scared to fail so you aim for the 'basic package'. Why does nobody dream anymore? When I die, I don't want to be remembered as a 'family guy' and a 'caring father and loving husband'. Puke. I'd rather get divorced and go live in the jungle when I turn 40.
Maybe people don't spend enough time thinking about what they really want in life. What do you want to be remembered for? What legacy do you want to leave? When you're dead, how do you want to have changed the world? If you're going to be on this earth, you have a responsibility to improve upon it IMO.
And some people will argue with me. "But I don't want to be famous or wealthy or do anything extraordinary with my life. I just want to be a good person etc" - Ew. That's just an excuse for being a drone.
