It's starting to seem like everytime US presidential election season comes around, the arguement starts becoming about the "lesser of two evils".

While I'm willing to entertain the idea that neither candidate really matters, that is not what I'm hoping to discuss here.

What I want to know is how you would solve the problem of both candidates being terrible in a great deal of people's eyes, but one just being slightly better than the other.

How do Americans either get candidates who are actually liked by the people, or do away with only having two real possibilities and possibly introduce more that more people are willing to rally behind to force better solutions to the problems the country is facing?
