Turkey is quite attractive because of its ancient architecture, the heritage of the Ottoman, Byzantine and Roman empires.

Very true! Though I know quite a number of people who have done the "solo backpacking across Europe" style thing. Ofc all male. No diss intended, as I don't really think it's safe for anyone to go alone, but I suppose those lads were fine thankfully.
