A friend of mine who's a psychologist, recommended to think of something really boring when lying In bed. An example was to count backwards from 100, by drawing It (100) on a blackboard, rubbing It out and then write 99 and keep repeating the process with every figure. Believe It or not, It helps me fall asleep more often than not.
I do this exact thing and it works great.
It's not effective each and every night, but I'd say It works for me over 85% of the time.
