Manga Readers, Why? 09-26-2022, 07:42 PM

I never understood the fascination of reading the manga of an anime. Manga that has no anime is completely understandable, but why would you flip through a bunch of colorless, emotionless, still drawings (that's how I see it through my eyes) when there's a professionally produced show. For people who read the manga for upcoming seasons of anime, do you do it for the story? Or do you genuinely enjoy reading a comic over watching the show? For example Demon Slayer, 80% of all it has going for it is its animation and music. Is the plot really enough to ruin the scenes by reading the manga? I imagine you cant enjoy a new season of an anime the same after you've seen how it plays out through the manga. I've heard people say its the same as books and TV shows. But I would completely disagree. Books ≠ Manga. And TV shows ≠ Anime. It may sound like I'm talking down on Manga readers, and I probably am I little bit, but I genuinely want to understand which aspects of manga you prefer over anime.
