Service was apparently restored later in the day, after starting in the early morning and lasting well into the evening.

It didn't take long at all.

A while back In my locality, the largest ISP was down for 3 days.

3 DAYS!? In my locality just a few hours is an outrage. 3 days would hit national outrage and at least a decade's worth of bad press and being the butt of all jokes.
