I think some streamers like to time their "breaks" to coincide with the ads as well, so you don't really need to block them to avoid FOMO on streams. I'll be using it though because it would be nice to not have ads at all and because I support the TTVers, not the site itself, which gains revenue based on ad views. Support the artist not the medium. Same reason I don't allow ads anywhere else that I don't support the website. I can always donate to the site directly, but I prefer to give to the artists and gamers themselves.
I think there are some instances where ads are ok, as you say, some streamers run them during breaks. However, the ads are getting longer and more numerous. I will support the platform via my subs (the portion that goes to twitch). I'm not interested in massive, TV commercial like ads. They used to have interactive ads at one point, and I didn't mind those.
I also feel like Twitch is a platform literally made of influencers (forgive the term). Pay content creators to do the advertising, and set it up so it goes through twitch getting a cut of the funds. Or if companies are really smart. They'll go direct to the content creator (it's far cheaper than what they pay twitch).
I'm not anti-twitch, but I'm not willing to let twitch emulate TV channels with their adverts. If they can get smarter with their ads, I'll reconsider blocking them. In this day and age nobody wants that shit, and everyone will find ways to block it without paying.
Thanks for this Oni!
