No it shouldn't. A period signals the end of a sentence. Quotation marks represent somebody saying something, you should all ideally be using inverted commas.
Since he is representing the word 'You' the period goes outside the inverted commas.
The next person to argue about Grammar and Spelling is about to take my foot in their ass.
