Is there anyway to circumvent this problem or is this just an inherent weakness of Onion Routing? I've grown quite fond of using TOR for anonymity

You could always use a VPN alongside Tor. I would recommend you use something like Mullvad or iVPN.

No it depends on Provider and setup... I use 2 different VPNs before i root my traffic threw the Tor Network...(App VMs in Qubes OS) A good option is to set up your own VPN on a VPS server. You can adjust it much better. I suggest you to read that in a quite minute: https://ufile.io/w859rg1v
