I fully agree I made it a goal of mine to learn as much as I can about my field during my time here at university, precisely so that I don't end up simply "reading books behind a desk" once I graduate.

He is also correct that a lot of people start in help desk situations - (sometimes remote) IT help and guiding others to fix their computers.

May I know in which video/article he said this? I'm very interested in learning about what the professional world is like for the field of IT.
