I didn't think I would ever be hearing the words "VR" and "treatment of chronic back pain" in the same sentence. But I guess anything is possible nowadays.

Another interesting use of VR that's similar to this, is relieving the terrors of sleep paralysis. A Youtuber by the name of SomeOrdinaryGamers uses VR to go to sleep in Minecraft. And anytime there's an attack from sleep paralysis, he wakes up peacefully in Minecraft. Without a single demon in sight.
