Religion should be a way of life where we adhere to the good teachings and not manipulate and interpret the great texts in each religion to our convenience.  No religion preaches negative emotion of hatred toward fellow human beings.

Religion is much like anything else. Politics, wars, or even sports teams. There will always be people who follow blindly, without understanding. Religion has the potential to unite people and teach important values, so it can still be useful as a social construct.

My belief is that socially responsible intellectuals from time immemorial created new religions in their quest to find meaning of life and rectify flaws in the existing religions.
