Even if they can definitively point fingers at China, what is actually going to happen? Another "trade war"? How is the rest of the world going to punish China? While I don't want them to get away with it, I do feel a sense of futility in this.

Well specially when they can already totally point fingers at China. Maybe not 100% in terms of the origins of the virus, but completely responsible for minimising the very high contagion risk and dangerousness at the beginning. Even the quarantine in Wuhan was much too late and as effective as it should have been
And there's nothing racist in saying that obviously

Although, we could equally argue every nation the virus reached after that didn't shut down nearly fast enough. My own country just let in the India variant. I'm not sure how many people have to die before a lesson is learned. But hey, that's another matter.

Yeah I agree, I believe there's also a consensus that most countries didn't react properly... But also most of them aren't used to any kind of pandemic.
At least now the few good examples clearly stand out ! We'll see what we'll do with that information...
