I can not imagine things will be great over there straight away after they leave but Afghanistan never will be like the U.S.
I don't think that was ever the aim? Isn't there great risk of more internal fighting and death expected when the American's leave?
I'm sure in the long-run, things will balance out.. or just continue in internal wars. I don't really see this as either good news or bad. I just know it means America and it's allies won't be able to offer their help to anyone regardless of what happens now. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Some people believe America and their forward operating bases all over the world are a threat and that this is a good sign of taking things a step back. Most people in Afghanistan including U.S troops and the locals feel that they shouldnt be there and that its an invasion, I dont have strong feelings either way I just know that many American lives and locals lives will be saved by pulling out
From what I've read to-date, I don't think it's entirely true that local lives will be saved, due to larger risks and less protection from the Taliban. But I'm sure many feel that the US (and by default, my own nations military) should not have been there in the first place. I also know others feel that the lives lost there, will be in vain when all forces leave. I can see all the arguments for and against to be fair.
