Planning to upgrade the CPU in the next year or so, though the 7700K has served me faithfully.

It's certainly a powerful CPU.

My laptop Is running the 7700HQ, and It's handled every task effectively without any Issues whatsoever.

Out of curiosity, what laptop would that be?

1080s are still pretty good, requirements-wise. I've found that if you upgrade before your old parts burn out, it's just a waste of money. You might find that the 4000-series or 5000-series comes out, by the time the 1000-series are unusable.
