To add to this, a good way to hide assets is by donations and art (there are certain limits to this if you don't want to pay additional taxes on this). Simply donate x amount to friends/family and claim it. If art, you would then sell it to a third party under the table. FYI you can push your luck and insure it as well as report it stolen.
