Weirdly I was talking with someone about this earlier today. Nothing is ever truly free. In this instance, you're providing your time and data as currency, instead of dollars or pounds etc.

I was being sarcastic about these countries who view liberation as something evil and always think the west is evil for letting people express themselves freely, and this gets brought to light in how they view the internet.
