PHP vs HTML 5 #1
So, my question today is extremely simple...
What are the advantages and disadvantages of PHP when comparing to HTML.
I'm currently doing HTML 5 with CSS, and a bit of Java.
And no, please don't start telling me i didn't do my research. I did, but thought that it might be good to have a thread about this on these forums, for the beginners.
Anyhow, Cheers

HTML and CSS are great for client-sided work, with the recent HTML5 coming close to JavaScript in regards to capability. PHP on the other hand has always been a bad version of Perl designed to make coding it easier, Django and other new web-frameworks are the future.

No, you didn't. If you did you'd know that PHP is server-sided and that HTML and CSS are client-sided, comparing them doesn't make any sense.

Simply said:
PHP can do more advanced stuff than HTML and CSS can (mathematical operations, database, getting info form other websites etc.), while HTML and CSS are simply made for design. (With that in mind, Server-sided languages can do what client sided languages can not, and oposite)

Comparing HTML5 and PHP is like comparing Gabe Newell and Morgan Freeman, they're both equally great, but both do completely different things.

It's not about comparing them, the real shit happens when you combine em

This.
One is fairly boring without the other.

You're comparing a markup language with a programming language. What kind of answer do you expect? PHP actually does things, while HTML just sits there and looks pretty. Obviously they are completely different, but when combined they can create beautiful things. Tongue

Completely agree with Oni, it's about combining them, not comparing them.
