Using video tutorials to use chopsticks?
How about you do it like they do in anime - bring the food close to you and stab it over and over and magically eat it.

That could work, but I plan to go to Japan in the next few years, and I don't want to look like a total loser.

Just go to one of the areas where there are lots of anime fans, and you wont look like the biggest loser.
