Close all old threads #1
There has been some serious gravedigging on these forums.  I know there's a 90 day warning, but clearly no one is paying attention.  Can all threads a year or more be closed (without any new replies)?  I ask because I am assume if a feature to put those warnings on older threads exist, there must be a way to also close even older threads or something.

Generally with our forum, I figured this went without saying. However, recent discussion has led me to believe otherwise. People are encouraged to read and follow our rules, especially those regarding illegal content. You have been warned - @Oni

You certainly have a valid point, however although the majority of old threads are deemed futile, there are many that still serve a purpose to remain active.

For Instance, If a given thread Is only 6 months old and the link Is dead but the OP Is still actively contributing, a reply to "update the link" Is not classed as grave digging. This Is classified as "Please only reply If you have a good reason to", as per the message above the text box. As such, closing threads Is performed on a case-by-case basis.

We as staff, have no control over members who fail to exercise common sense and good judgement.

Action Is taken accordingly for repeat offenses, however It's simply not possible to monitor the behavior of each and every member.

How rare is that though?
I tried to come up with situations in which a thread needs to be open for more than a year with no replies and I could come up with none.

My aforementioned posts are referring to old threads In general- with or without replies.

I've located one within 3 minutes, dated almost a year ago.  At the time of this post, the OP's last visit was 55 minutes ago, and his/her request In a subsequent post, Is yet to be fulfilled as per below.
Quote:thanks buddy and which hardware you use for home automation in open source only ?

Edit:
Here's a thread with no replies from February last year.

The OP's question Is (obviously) yet to be answered, and his/her last visit was a little over 4 weeks ago.
Found this In 6 minutes.

What I meant by reply is, (last post being the original or when any user last commented).

What's the likelihood that these users are still looking for an answer a year past? Slim to none.

I can't answer that, nor can anyone other than the OP, hence threads are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

I'm not opposing your suggestion, but rather stating that threads cannot be closed purely based on their age, and without taking their content Into consideration.
