Google Restricts Huawei’s Access to Android After Trump Order #1
So what do you guys think of the recent drama on Huawei? Read it here: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/20/techn...uawei.html

They're not clear on the national security issue though. I think it's more like removing a hard competition.

That's kind of a dick move. I just lookes it up and their stocks are tanking. This trade war is getting out of hand. It's just gonna turn into a new Cold War.

They're already calling it a Cold War. This is some crazy stuff. I think this has been taken too far, especially with the impact on business and consumers globally.
On the other hand, change can often be driven by intense focusing events. Take a look at the technology and STEM fields after the last cold war. I hope that we will see benefits from change in the long run, though companies will suffer in the short-term.

In the end this will most likely end up in an American victory. I don't think China can hold up with their population of 1.4 Billion people, which isn't good in a trade war. This is going to end up devastating China's economy and their people. Oh and the GoT finale wasn't aired in China because of this, which should be a sin.

This is pretty sad tbh. I've always been a big fan of Huawei.

Indeed - This could end up in many businesses shutting down and China is already taking a serious hit.

10 years from now, we will probably be looking at a very different trade relationship with China and the rest of the globe (one that keeps the USA in power).

Hopefully the rest of the BRICS don't get involved, if they havn't already. In that scenario we wouldn't have much of a chance. Although I'm not sure of how much trade goes on with us and them though.

You would be surprised. Many of those are growing due to exports. However, I wouldn't underestimate the relationship between the US and other countries. The BRICS are a force to be reckoned with, but the US has many allies of its own.

We have lots of strong allies in NATO, Germany, UK, France and a lot of others.

Exactly! In fact, if I heard right, some European countries are already pulling support in accordance with the US's wishes. For example, some European manufacturers are no longer supplying Huawei, despite the impact on companies trying to use Huawei tech to develop 5G (as mentioned in the article).
