Checking this out. Who knows.. #1
Myself?  I'm jfalcon of [late]TNO, [current]Telephreak, [current]BinRev, and other stuff.  My early work was documented in CoTNO archived in Textfiles.org and for the past 12 years or more been part of Telephreak - likely seen us at DEFCON or HOPE doing phreaks for the geeks, running the SE panel which is a black badge event before the .com dudes stole it from by going straight to the organizers. (which is what SE is all about) - I've run an off-net mobile phone network at HOPE as well as talked about wardialing the world which the video is on YT.

I wear a grey hat.  I'm not 18 anymore and I got a mortgage so not interested in serving time.  I've done that and still managed to recover my career.  I'm ok.  Thanks for asking.

Mostly, I want to see what's changing in the scene.  Back when all of us were segregated by MaBell and $$$.  Not so much anymore.  But then again, we didn't have planes flying into metal buildings back in my day unless there was fog and pilot error involved.  Thanks to the patriot act tying US hackers hands since 2001, I'm trying to understand the changes in the scene as a whole.  I've been to CCC and other cons.  But nothing against StankDawg at Binrev, it's a ghost town.  So here I am to see if this is any better and get a sense of which way the wind is blowing - so to speak...

That's my .plan for your finger.  suck it all in.

Welcome dude, I'm glad that more and more people with hacking/programming/IT skills are joining and are willing to spread the knowledge gained on their path.
Oh, btw: that's a pretty dope introduction

Is this referring to "The Last Hope" with Emmanuel Goldstein heading the SE panel?

That aside, welcome to Sinisterly. For your reference, the rules are found here. If you haven't done so already, please take a few moments to familiarize yourself.
Enjoy your stay.

During Last Hope, Telephreak did their own panel around 11 pm Friday. Sometimes one or two of us (usually Beave and Slestak) will gatecrash into the 2600 show on Wednesday as we know NotKevin fairly well. Beave and I did the Wardial talk which we totally slacked on yet were well received - search youtube for x.25 and VoIP. Even the Owner of the late NuFone came up after the talk. The group itself has gone non-profit recently so we're getting some oars into the water right now trying to work that angle so we can pay for projects/parties and sponsor other projects.

As for E, I see the guy all the time - when I'm on the east coast - he doesn't come west often. But I've never actually chatted with him or conversed - and I know some of the stories. Zero Fucks given. But he's not Telephreak.

No, the current Defcon SE black-badge event is currently being run by the dudes we asked to stand in as judges. We did the first SE contest before soundbooths and in the middle of the wifi village when it was still at the riv. Believe that was 15 or 16 thereabouts.

Good ol' (or should I say young) "NotKevin".  He's presented some Interesting stories and demonstrations.

Just reading your comment on Emmanuel Goldstein not being Telephreak/Phone phreak, he does come across as such. I believe his relaxed and methodical approach when SEing, Is a major contributor to his success- although he has failed on a number of occasions. With Beave, I assume you're referring to "Da Beave" aka, Champ Clark III.

Thanks for your In depth reply.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see more experienced hackers joining the forum rather than just Amazon SEers.
