As per my usual navigation around the net In search of the latest happenings pertaining to anything In computing, I stumbled across a very Interesting alternative to accessing torrents when The Pirate Bay Is offline. A tool named "OfflineBay" allows you to store torrents locally (on your PC), by downloading a dump file that contains the latest torrent files.

For example, once the dump file (that contains all torrent files) Is downloaded on your system and The Pirate Bay (or any other torrent site) Is down the very next minute, you can still access It's torrents via the dump file In an offline state- hence the name "OfflineBay". I'd suggest using a dedicated system for this, or operate In a controlled environment (VM or otherwise).

The Pirate Bay regularly suffers downtime, which can lead to a lot of frustration among users. Software developer TechTac hopes to bring an end to this with the release of OfflineBay, a searchable offline archive of TPB's torrents. The software relies on downloading and updating a dump file manually at the moment, but the developer hopes to replace this with a blockchain in the future.

This is quite neat actually. Especially since the piratebay goes offline a few times per month at least. Still there are dozens of mirrors where you can still access it. I guess this would be neat to have when it's being raided or something again.

The Pirate Bay has been going down quite often as of late, and I have read reports of those who almost go Into panic mode when trying to access torrents. This tool will serve their purpose.

But as you've mentioned, there's heaps of mirrors and alternative sites.

The only drawback Is, the offline torrents are only as recent as the latest dump file.

Essentially, you need to download the dump file on a consistent basis to have the latest torrents. Hopefully the developer will automate the process.
