Further to @"Ender"'s post above, whether you're booting Kali Linux from a USB stick or disc, don't forget to set It In the BIOS as the first bootable device.

And whatever you do, don't install it onto your hard drive, it's made for live booting.

Hello there...

1. I have downloaded Kali Linux lite
2. I use disk imager to mount Kali lite to a USB drive
3. Set bios to boot USB drive
4. Successfully booted to main menu
5. Choose live
6. Screen shows the os is loading, about 30 seconds my pc monitor goes to standby and my pc reset button not working.... so I have to shut off my pc manually

What could be the problem? Should I need to do any default settings for my bios as I optimised it for Windows...

You probably did the wrong bit. Is your computer a 32-bit or 64-bit?

I've downloaded the 64bit Kali Linux... my pc is 64 bit
