Nice things for friends #1
So, recently I have found something that brings so much joy to my world, and that is making my friends happy, and making them smile. My closest friend is going through some trouble with school right now, and she is stressing and everything, I'm trying my best to do as much as I can to make her happy. The other day, I texted her and said "Hey, hope your day is going well" she kind of took her anger out on me, I was a bit scared because I thought I had made her mad, but it turns out she was just having a shitty day, and she was aggravated at everyone, she ended up saying she was sorry for taking it out on me. I would rather my friends take their anger out on me than someone else because in the end, I know that they really didn't mean to take it out on me, and I understand that, as some people might not take it that way and end up getting mad at them, potentially ruining that friendship. Her birthday is coming up, and she is forced to take online classes for college because the normal classes got filled, and that can be spendy. So I decided that I am giving her $50 cash for her birthday with a necklace that I got her a month or so back.
I feel like I am running out of idea's of nice things to do for my friends. Here are some things I do.

1. I get a little envelope at my church, and write something like "Hope you have a great afternoon!" or something similar and I hide it in their wallet, or purse, or stick in on their car window.
2. Write a nice quote on a index card, and give it to them.
3. This is something I have been doing for the past month:

A really close friend of mine from church went home for Christmas. She is 19, and she goes to a college here were I live. The only reason she even goes to my church is because the drummer at our church goes to that same college, and he brought her to be a leader at our youth. When I met her, we kinda clicked and became more of friends than leader and student. I am a very social type of person, and I love texting my friends. Well, she wouldn't always respond to me, and I would worry myself to death over that. So, I talked to her about it, and this is pretty much what she said: "At my old church, the youth leader (a guy) started texting one of the students all the time which was a girl, they had zero chemistry, but everyone else started assuming things and it almost tore apart the entire youth group." She said once I graduate (which is May 14th WOOP WOOP) that we can text as much as I want. Well, while she has been gone for break, everyday I have wrote a nice quote down on a sheet of paper in a spiral notebook, and sent her a picture of me holding it. I am giving it to her in two days. I have been writing her a long letter which is now 5 pages front and back explaining why I chose each and every quote, as well as some other things. Here are some of the quotes:

I found these as pictures on google
"You can tell if that person is special if no matter what kind of mood you are in, that person can always make you smile."
"You are somebody's reason to smile."
"Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life that want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and love you on matter what."
"Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend."

Do you guys have any suggestions of little or big things I can do to make my friends happy. Or some quotes like those to make them happy.
What do you guys do to make your friends smile, or make them happy?

That's very sweet and a trait seldom to most people. If only more Individuals like you existed, the world would be a better and more comforting place to live.

In response to your last paragraph, I'm the type who (where justified) always puts others first. If there's only enough milk In the fridge for one, I'll allow the other person have his/her coffee, hence I'll do without. If they're down to their last penny, I'll provide them with enough funds until their next paycheck and don't request the money In return.

Selflessness Is not earned, It's who you are.

Theres very few people I truly care about in person. My boyfriend and three of my closest friends. I'd do anything for those 4. Everyone else I'm a bit iffy about.

I’m the same way about putting others first. I can agree with you on the thing about having more people like me in the world!

That's nice to read.

I know quite a few people who operate on the principle of "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours", and stick by that Idiom no matter what happens. I disassociate from myself from such Individuals.

That's a Jewish quote (not joking)

I'm not really sure about your question. I don't really require people to do things for me before I do things for them (although I need to trust them), but I don't really actively go out to do things for others. However, I'll generally let @"CC.py" (or another good friend, but he's the best example) borrow anything if he needs.
I'm pretty passive in a lot of similar areas though, so I guess it makes sense?

EDIT: Found a counterpoint to the above -- I've bought pizza for @phyrrus9
