@Oni I respect the fact you do not lock down content as it allows guest to view up to (5) thread a day before requiring the to register and understand the concept behind that.

I feel that of you were to implement [hide][/hide] tags and allow them to be used by certain upgraded level or towards specific threads that are created it would not only help generate higher quality tutorials / content over all but would help persuade new members to join. I'm not saying allow it on all threads but allow it on really indepth tutorials, certain methods, and other top tier content. This would not prevent guest from viewing over half of the content here, but if a guest really wants the knowledge behind the tags, it will persuade them to join and be more active as opposed to reading content as guest or joining and simply reading and going on their way.

@phyrrus9 and I were discussing this today and in the past as well and figured I'd try to make a suggestion

I agree with this. Though it can also be looked at from the other side. We have 37,000 members right now, and only about 300 of them log in every day. That means that the vast majority of our members are inactive, probably registered just to read one thread and then left. I'm not sure how we fix this problem, though I'm running a couple initiatives (like my christmas RAM giveaway) to help spark some new HQ activity.

I'm trying as well.
I am posting in the section I'm always bitching about (almost caused my ban a few times lol) in attempts to help them out. I want to see massive activity here since I mainly see the same.group of people posting. Alot of the inactive members are actually from mergers I'm, but I can neither verify this nor discredit it, just an assumption. I'm not saying allow everyone and their sister to use hide tags on every post, but feel like down load links, hq tutorial links like @phyrrus9 has listed and methods should be allowed to be hidden to prevent leeching and possibly incite activity.

RE: Hide tags #4
I do agree with you. One thing though, I absolutely am 100% against this: You have to reply to the thread to unlock the content inside the [hide][/hide] or you have to pay NSP to unlock the content. This creates spam, and people going on every thread that has hidden content saying "Thanks for this share!". I feel if this was implemented, it would need to be if you want to see what is inside the hide tag, you must be a registered member with your email verified.

Edit:
P.S. @Slacker why am I not on your best friend list? lol, jk.

A minimum char requirement when replying to a given post can be Implemented , thereby Increase the likely hood of a quality response.

I've come across a few boards where the hide tags worked efficiently, but the majority simply generated LQ posts.

@Synthx
I assume there are other versions of the hide tags that simply require membership to disclose the information. If not I'm sure that a few members here wouldn't mind helping create one as I've discussed it with them previously.

@MrSecurity
There used to be a ton of hq content shared (still is just not at the rates they used to share)
I understand people deserve the right to read and learn from the content it just doesn't make sense to allow non contributing members to snatch the stuff people invest time and hard work into and vanish. With an account being required or x post count etc it would be an incentive to have new members join even if it is for the limited hidden content
Half the battle is getting people to join, once they join I'm sure we can incite activity from the..

That's exactly what I am afraid of. Still, people can easily just create some stupid ass message like "Thanks for this amazing share man! I will use it well." or some stupid crap like that.

Yeah, I feel it wouldn't be too hard to make if it doesn't already exist.
