I'm sorta new so I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but I think there should be other ways to gain NSP aside from posts and threads.

An idea I had was NSP for referrals. For every activated account that you refer you get 5-10 NSP. To help avoid people making fake accounts, aside from it being already against the rules, you can make it so that you get the NSP once the new user makes a thread and a post or something.

Yeah but what happens if they are a shit poster and get banned, I belong to a private site where if your referral gets banned you get banned as well.
Not to mention that there are many ways to cheat the system on that as well making a bunch of accounts and just making a few posts then sending the NSP to the main account.
It can be hard to get NSP but it is worth it in the long run.

Cheats very often get caught. As has happened recently.

The NSP gain for referral is a good idea in itself, but potential problems are there. The best way to earn NSP is writing threads. Especially since you end up naturally responding to anyone that comments on your threads. Making a thread and responding to the comments generates a lot more activity/nsp and discussion than simply posting on odd threads that interest you. It's a win - win for all.

An activated account, may not necessarily be an "active" account.

A user may register, post a thread and then never hear from them again. A probable solution to this could be after ex-amount of posts (example 20), you then earn the NSP. That said, It can also complicate the points system.

Personally, I prefer It as Is, but that's just me.
