What is the most cost effective PC build? #1
So I am just a little child, and I am looking to play games smooth. I really don't care for graphics, but it would be nice.

I am planning on saving up some money to build a PC. After looking at some videos like the "Don't buy a gaming laptop" video. I am hoping to build something similar to the build he showed.

I will be working on things like After Effects and Adobe Premier for youtube. Since it's a passion of mine, and I also wan't to play Overwatch smoothly

Post any suggestions if you can! And thanks in advance

How intense is your work in After Effects and Premier? Are you a professional video editor or just a hobbyist? What kind of budget do you have? Overwatch can run smooth on a potato with down syndrome so unless you're doing very intense work with video editing you could potentially have a lowish budget.

Overwatch does not run smooth for me even after editing the config files to give me the lowest settings possible.

I'm working on more intense work in After effects. Hopefully I will be doing cool shit soon. But I am still learning.

That's odd. I have friends with old laptops that manage to play it on 30-40fps. Still going to need a budget to throw together a build. If you want the ability to do intense work in After Effects at a reasonable speed, that might jack up the budget a bit. And resolution? Do you plan to be playing 1440p 144hz or are you alright with 1080p 60hz? Peripherals?

I'm fine with 1080p 60fps.

Also idk why mine doesn't work. My player models don't show up until near 3 minutes into the game, and my frame rate has gone down to 2fps before.

Still need a budget man....... And sounds brutal. Maybe bad drivers, not sure though.

Edit: seen your budget, will throw something together. Assuming USD

  • Take off ~100$ if you are okay getting Windows by other methods than buying it.
  • i7 for hyper threaded rendering, video editing, etc.
  • 16GB of RAM should be enough for your needs, upgrade if you want more, not too much more expensive.
  • RX 480 is probably king of 1080p 60hz right now (goo.gl/Eki55a).
  • Top of the line SSD and 1TB of storage, self explainatory.

Wait for other builds, it's always nice to see other perspectives and what other builders think of the current hardware market.
