Hmm that's odd man. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm pretty good with my hands. Could be road debris or something. I'd probably try to pick up a used one and see if the same thing happens to it so you can determine your problem. With a good cleaning, I don't imagine you'll run into problems with a used one, unless something is pressing up against it of course.

im glad to see im not the only one mechanically inclined around here.
my days of aiming for max speed are over, im all about customizations now... kinda miss my younger days honestly
