Swatches is a panel that contains colors you are currently using? Difference is, its build into Photoshop already.

Ohh, yea but I mean like colors for all psds, not just the ones I'm using on the current psd

Swatches can be saved as separate sets, used across all PSDs. Say, I have one Swatches dubbed; "Material" which contains all of Google's Material colors. Then I have one called; "Neon" which contains a set of neon like colors I picked myself. Two I can easily switch between and use across all PSDs.

Ohhh I just looked it up a bit now too, I'll probably use that since it will be easier and I can have loads for different things
