So some parents are quite strict with what games their child can play because they believe it can have an effect on their child. What do you think?

I don't think so. I mean if they've been brought up to know what is right and wrong then no. A kid doesn't just steal a car because they've played GTA and it was fine on there.

I don't think so at all. I've played GTA ever since I was 3/4 years old and have played video games ever since. Im not violent at all and in-fact I couldnt even think about doing so something as bas as killing someone persay.

Oh definitely, video games are the leading cause for murder, suicides, theft and rape.

No, I don't think it does. If a parent believes it, then they're going to say that constantly. The more the child hears it, the more they're going to believe it themselves, thus causing a placebo effect. Something is happening in their mind so they're perceiving it as reality due to the fact it's a constant case of them thinking that's the truth.

I think they do influence kids, but not as much as people portray it as in the media. Like I am who I am because of all my experiences, most of which are from games. But saying playing CoD makes someone a killer is stupid, it's like saying playing Doctor Mario makes them a doctor, it's illogical

If it can have an effect? Yes. Fiction of all forms can have an effect on someone, be it a child or an adult. Whenever or not that effect is negative depends on the individual. Most don't react in a negative way, actually they react in a positive way. Then again, there is always that odd person who reacts in a negative way and as of such, parents fear that their child might also react that way. Truth me told, if someone go on a massacre and blame a game for it, then it would only be a matter of time. The game in question might have been the trigger for the outburst, but give it another 5 years and something else might have done it instead.

A game doesn't make you homicidal, it can boost your ego to the point where you can act on your already existence ideas and wishes though. (In short, a crazy person was crazy before they played games. Games could have acted as a trigger, but so could anything else.)

Me too. I've always played games like GTA and COD ever since I was young and I'm not violent either. I've never even had a fight lmao.

No, for the majority of us I don't think so. You're always going to have the odd one or two people who do something out of character because of games but I don't think it effects everyone I mean video games have been around a generation now and how many stories do you hear of children doing out of character things because of a video game.

Parents ought to be bothered getting their children out, I wish my parents pushed me to go out instead of sitting on social platforms and games through my teens.
