Has anyone ever heard of or come across an AV called iSheriff ?

Our company is thinking about using them as a replacement to Norton.

I was told it is has a small footprint, it's cloud based, their CP is web-based and they come with web-filtering, only problem is that I haven't come across anyone who has used them and getting management to go for a more reputable company is difficult as their is funds involved and if it costs less they will go for it.

Ask your management if they want to learn the hard way. That is, unless iSheriff is reputable. I've personally not heard of it.

Situation report ...

iSheriff's web service could not integrate with our network for some reason, all PC's have issues with certain content not displaying. It uses a proxy script in the connection settings of the browser and when it gives problems and want to remove it via the policy screen on the Control Panel, it does not deselect the proxy setting in all browsers on random PC's.

The AV itself is pretty good, blocked certain files from opening when users plug in their USB's from home and their phones, you can see what it has blocked on which/who's machine, but what I did notice is that you can't roll out a scan from the CP because it only goes to certain PC's.

It is terrible with Mac devices, keeps giving module error and you have manually update the engine after installing it, somehow it can't do it itself.

If I had to rate the web filter I would give it a 3/10 and for the AV 6/10

I mean that's great and all but AV isn't something you should be cheaping out on.

I think you should move onto Avast, I use it as a alternative, my main antivirus is my brain.
But yeah, Avast should do the trick.

Also, you should monitor the computers and save logs,
This way you can see if they have done something... just a suggestion.

True yes, but the budget gets determined by higher management and I tried explaining this to them but I get told the same thing everytime "Get 3 quotes and we will choose the cheapest one, because we still a young a company shareholders will not give us more money" lol

If only I could give my brain to everyone to use at work

Do you think I could create some sort of script to save logs and copy to a shared folder on the network ? because here is 40 machines and to do that on all of them coupled with all the run arounds I have to do I won't have the time during the day. Could check logs from home when I'm away from the chaos

I've also never heard of It. I've performed a quick Google search and found that the company Itself, was established In 1999 with It's focus on Information security. It many well offer good all-round protection, but until that's been established by your company, I'd be reluctant to the make the switch.

If they've been around since 1999 and haven't established themselves very well, I'd stay away from them. Period. Avast and others have been around for as long or longer, and have a much better reputation and probably have better engineers working on the product

As many others in this thread have already said, Avast is a great option. I use them myself, and haven't been let down yet
