well i just made my text input and submit input both block elements and floated them left. 
wow.... well, i guess you have to hack everything in css and html.

No question I guess. Other than why does text size shift everything? HTML and CSS are way to unpredictable.

I don't see how font size would shift it left or right, but if you have spaces or the element gets too tall it can have issues like this I guess. 

Use a max-height: 123px; rule in your CSS and I hope you're using em for font size :3
