Hey there,
If you are reading this then you are mostly likely wanting to find out which language to start off programming with.
But first you have to ask yourself why you want to learn programming? If you are wanting to learn it for a possible career or because you want / need to learn it then you should definitely learn it thoroughly as some Development Jobs in the UK can Pay as much as £1000 / $1500 per day. Yet if you are looking to create one script to do one specific thing and leave coding at that then I would recommend finding a specific guide for that as programming can be a time consuming thing to learn.
Learning any new skill can be difficult, so it can always be hard to know where to start.
Here are a few steps you should take early on and programming languages that are best-suited for beginners.
If you really want to you can start off with Scratch which Is pretty weak to be honest.
It makes it easy to understand the basics of programming without getting caught up in all the complex syntax.
In my opinion, Python is one of the easiest languages to start with as the Syntax is both easy to learn and very logical. For instance, to print a simple string you can do
Print("Hello Alphas!") - Depending on which version of Python you use.
Python is an easy language for beginners, because the syntax is very easy, the shell highlights different pieces of code in different colours and is generally a nice language to start with.
So, if you forget your indentations, it shouldn't trip you up as much as it might if you were coding in a different language and it also highlights where you have gone wrong.
A downside to Python is that it is has to have what is best described as a "Translator" in beginner's terms. Meaning it has to be ran in the shell unless you compile into an Exe file.
But Javascript is one of the most useful languages to know as a developer for both web and desktop applications.
Javascript isn't as easy as Python, but it runs on every single platform out there —
Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android among others. Every single Web browser, and even new types of devices like smart watches use Javascript. However, Google also runs on Python.
Once you have the hang of Javascript, you can try other languages like Ruby, HTML and PHP.
A lot of interactive sites use Javascript and Ruby. But if you are looking for more program based programming you can then Progress to Java.
While HTML isn't a programming language in the sense that Python, Ruby, and Javascript are, they are still a fundamental for building the infrastructure of a website.
Of course you could Jump into the deep end and go into HTML or Java if you really wanted, but with the complex syntax it can be very difficult and soul crushing to learn.
A great website to start off with is www.codecademy.com as there are all, plus more tutorials, of the languages mentioned above.
Good luck with programming and don't hesitate to PM me with any questions
