People dont really pay attention to text warnings unless they are actually forced to see information.
My other idea is lets say member writes a text that wants to post then presses "Post Reply" then majestic pop up appears saying "This thread is older than 3 months before posting you must : (bullet points)

• etc
• etc

That's also reasonable, although I don't think mine would hurt. Yours would just need a little bit of javascript and a popup div, not too bad. I guess we'll just have to see what happens

Of course warning before pressing post reply is good too but as you said will see what will happen

I think the only real problem is that newer members probably don't read the rules and end up grave digging when they're trying to contribute. The solution could be as simple as this:

Alternatively, If for example, "3 months" Is conclusively defined as grave digging, once the 3 month period elapses, any further posts cannot be submitted. This would be an automated functionality- perhaps even automatically closing the thread. This way, there'll no longer be such thing as grave digging and members will be happy and content not to receive warnings due to simply not realizing what they've done.
It would also alleviate staff from the workload of trying to stay on top of old threads.

I would recommend against this, besides sales threads, as bumping does nothing to contribute to the topic itself.

If you have new things to discuss in relation to the threads topic, you can make a new thread and reference the old one. Do not bump/post on threads for their original content though, please.
